Mahabharat: Ek Dharmayudh
I started watching Mahabharat: Ek Dharmayudh on JioHotstar a few days ago. I think this is the first television portrayal of the Mahabharata where the video and audio are wholly AI-generated. The cost of its production was probably only a fraction of previous Mahabharata serials due to several reasons. For one, there is no need to pay the actors as there are none. Secondly, there is no need for constructing or renting filming sites like palaces or arenas. Also, there is no need for props like weapons. It's also probably easier to digitally age the characters than to use makeup or hire another actor altogether. But the AI rendering isn't perfect yet. I'm watching the Kannada dub, where the lip-syncing is all wrong, and I think the video could be even more realistic. I've just started watching the show, and I hope to see a dark-skinned Lord Krishna for the first time on Indian television.
